#Amp energy drink car wrap scams how to#
Has this happened to you? File a complaint. Want to know more? Read our articles to learn how to spot variations on fake checks and money wiring scams. And if this were a legitimate car wrap opportunity, wouldn’t the company directly pay the car-wrapping vendor, instead of asking you to do it? If you get a message urging you to deposit a check and wire money back, it’s a scam. And, of course, no one’s wrapping your car. On top of that, you’re on the hook for paying your bank back for the fake check. The money you kept as “your share” disappears, and the money you wired is long gone - no getting it back. Weeks after you wire the money, the check bounces and your bank tells you it was a fake. They tell you to deposit the check, keep part of it as your share, and wire the rest to another company that will wrap your car. But when the “company” sends you a check, it’s for much more than that - a couple thousand dollars. The message says you’ll make a couple hundred bucks. Or someone might send you a message - maybe because they saw your profile or resume on a job site. You might see an ad on a job board or on social media. It’s only easy money for the scammer who placed the ads. Have you seen ads promising easy money if you shrink-wrap your car - with ads for brands like Monster Energy, Red Bull, or Pepsi? The “company” behind the ads says all you have to do is deposit a check, use part of it to pay a specified shrink-wrap vendor, and drive around like you normally would. So I started doing research online and found that apparently this is a big scam. The mail I got for the check is from Maryland. 3) The number the guy was texting me from was Ohio, but the phone number on the ad was Vermont.and it was a google number. I told the guy this and he told me to open a new account so I could deposit the check. 1) Why would I be sent the money don't they have a guy that does this and he's already paid if they're a big business? 2) The ad said I could get paid in cash which was great because the bank I use isn't in this state and I havent opened a new account yet. I gave him the info and he texted me that he would send me a check where most of the money would go to the guy wrapping the car and I would keep the rest.okay so a few red flags here. I contacted the guy and told him I was interested (I've seen plenty of cars wrapped with energy drink ads so I thought it could be legit) and he asked for my address and the make and model of my car. I just moved to Madison WI and I was online looking for a part time job on the weekends when I saw "wrap your car and make 400 a week!" for AMP energy drinks.
